Faux News: Fair and Balanced

Not to say that Comedy Central or their faux-news mouthpiece Jon Stewart are guardians of truth, but at least they don't pretend to take themselves seriously.

Here they are furthering the fact that they are in fact Faux News, not Fox News

Some PSA's dont get across, this one does...

Via:

Stumble!/Youtube

I have a little sister, so I wish more women would know this...

Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don't want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they're amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who's brave enough
to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

Mark Jenkins: An Artists Artist

Laugh if you will, but this guy is like a 3D Banksy. Well maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but regardless, Mark Jenkins is capital "G" Good. His work is composed, well situated, and most of all insightful. Regardless of what you think of the pieces, it at least leaves us thinking; a far cry from other art concerned solely with aesthetic.

What Murakami does for depth, color, and perception; Jenkins does for outright creativity. What he doesnt accomplish through insightfulness he does through shock value. I encourage more people to make their ideas a reality and share with the rest of us.

Mark Jenkins, Here's to you...

Sleepless on South Beach

Huh? Where am I? That's the first thought (post 2hr. nap) that might come to mind after a night filled to the brim with South Beach cultural hijinks. The streets were filled, and the stages were rocked with performances as eclectic as their audience. Swarms of people gathered to enjoy seaside performances of House, R and B, Bluegrass, Funk, Merengue, Bachata, Creole, and a million other forms of sonic expression. The only thing as eclectic as the music was the food. I've always loved the authenticity of Miami's food; tonight served only to reinforce.

I was privy to witness the worlds biggest harp and impressive is definitely the word that comes to mind here. By rigging a series of strings from a streetlevel stage up to the building across the street(Park Central hotel), the city is able to brag about hosting the oversized harp.

A Sleepless Night on South Beach would NOT be complete without a few nightcaps at a local low-key bar. Tonights bar du-soire was Love/Hate....Jesus Christ I love this place. The decor i s phenomenal: lit in a dim red light the place is lined with all sorts of classic tattoo flash; from the bartop to the walls. Tributes to sobriety and reminder of our mortality line the walls and remind us that as the night comes to an end (albeit at 7am) so must our sleeplessness....G'Nite

Sleepless Night: South Beach

Miami famed artists Edouard Duval Carrie surveys the installation of vaudou deities that are installed for the upcoming "Sleepless Night." CARL JUSTE / MIAMI

Everybody thinks South Beach is all Bikini's and Bugatti's; and you wouldn't necessarily be wrong, except for tonight. This evening (all night actually) will prove to be quite a different experience. The normally boisterous strip will turn its attention from the material to the ethereal: art!

Upon arriving here at the beach I quickly noticed all the extra traffic, not just vehicular, but EXTRA pedestrians everywhere. It seems that when you allow more space for people to walk; THEY WILL!!

This will be the second annual since 2007 (why the lapse?: Fundraising issues last year) and this year is expected to more than double the previous event, estimates range in the 200k attendees. The event is said to resemble the Nuit Blanche (literally "White Night," phrase conveying "All Nighter" in French); a series of events presented in Rome, Montreal, Lima, Madrid, and a slew of other cities. The idea is to blanket the cities with all-night cultural extravangaza's and promote the culture that lies beneath in these cities.

Sponsored by Audi, the event costs about $675,000, of which the automaker contributed the first 75,000. 150 performances and exhibits will be sure to impress not only awe but hopefully cultural awareness upon the viewers. Preliminary sightings include a stories high harp as well as multiple stage performances and museum exhibits open all evening and presented for free.

Im going out to explore...

be back with pictures and a first person perspective///

GaGa Photo-death; Photog Dies! What really happened?!?!?

So what if looks could kill; is Lady G responsible for this paparazzo's untimely demise? (gagging at my own sh*tty cliche)

Of course not, but it makes for a good headline...

Stories are conflicting; according to one source:
A.J. Sokalner collapsed suddenly as Gaga stepped onto the carpet, and the camera's began to flash. Paramedics were on the scene within minutes performing CPR and the like. The fatally-doomed photog was rushed to Bellevue hospital where the death was pronounced.

HOWEVER: Multiple sources, including other paparazzo, tell a different story: According to a fellow photographer who was on the scene when the accident happens, the gang is packing up and ready to leave when the man falls and hits his head on the concrete. The photographer says he had prior medical issues, and Lady Gaga is already inside.

Lesson to be learned: stay off ladders while photographing crowded events, especially if you have medical issues.

All this happened at the ACE awards Monday night, (Nov. 2, 2009)

Mr. Sokalner was in his late 50's and will be remember as "very well liked; he was very well respected ... He was a real photographer and he did it because he loved it.

Not a fan of the Paparrazzo culture, but rest in peace fellow world observer.

When the world is dark, MAKE SURE YOU GLOW!

KANYE WEST "Glow in the Dark" book promo by: NABIL from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

HOLD ON HOLD ON: IMA LET YOU FINISH (surfing the web) BUT I JUST GOTTA SAY, KANYE WEST HAD THE BEST TOUR EVER!!

Admittedly, I am a HUGE Kanye West fan, however, even if I were to muster up all the objectivity this little Goosebody can produce: Glow in the Dark is still the Dopest tour my Gooseyes have seen. period.

Mr. West took us on a journey that made us forget the problems of our life, hell it made me forget I even exist: the entire American Airlines Arena in Miami was on this journey with us and none of us came back the same.

A one-of-a-kind space odyssey; Glow in the Dark was the story of a space-traveler (Mr. West) stranded in the cold abyss. The space traveler's only companion, and the only on stage collaborator is his space ship Jane. Voiced through a behemoth of a screen: cool, calm collected, robot; Jane plays the perfect foil to Mr. Wests impassioned character, and helps round out the story. oh, by the way, Spike Jonze helped collab on the concert story...so you know its FIRE.

Each song is perfectly woven together to tell the basic story of Space Traveler crashed and stranded, realizing it "All Falls Down" his attempts at finding solutions to repair, meeting "flashinglights/gold-diggers" who dont really want to help. He realizes you "Can't Tell him Nothing" and that only through his inner-efforts can he make this ship fly" Obviously the story is much more beautiful/complex but this will have to do if you missed it....or maybe not: GLOW IN THE DARK TOURBOOK by NABIL ELDERKIN... AMAZON

To celebrate this Hip-Hopera, Nabil Elderkin (lauded photographer and documentarian) published his tour photos via HUGE leather-bound tome, in collaboration with Wild Thing Spike Jonze.

If you missed the tour, don't miss the book.

Wipe your post-halloween eye-boogers; Mister Cartoon is ARMORED

Prolific Tattoo-artist, OG Hip-Hop head, and LEGIT Graffiti Guru....need I say more?!?! Whether you call him Mister Cartoon, 'Toon, or Mark Machado; please recognize his skills, contributions and history in the world we love. Having tattoo'd the bodies of Beyonce Knowles, Eminem, Travis Barker, his work is disseminated, and on the right bodies. 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Method Man, Prodigy ...the list ( and the beat) goes on...

Apart from his skinwork, he owns and operates Joker clothing with friend and collaborator Estevan Oriol (AMAZING LA photographer)

More recently Toon was asked to perform his magic on an armored truck in order to promote the movie: (you guessed it) Armored.

Here's what Mister wants you to know:
"Check out this new collaboration project we did with Sony Pictures. The Armored truck under went a complete makeover from what you see in the film.. We had to lay a black to be a base coat before we started the mural.. The Mural itself took to days to execute and clear. Customizing the interior was next. A jail cell theme is what we went for inside. Trip out on the custom jail bars, stainless steel sink, the centerfolds and graffiti that give it an authentic feel."
