from what you call JUNK he molds ART

I recently had the opportunity to meet artist Victor LaRosa who works in a variety of mediums best described as mixed media. LaRosa's works include lacquered collage's juxtaposing the female aesthetic with images of round supple fruits, liqueurs, and theatrical stage-pieces.
Pioneering a technique he affectionately terms Junk Art, Vic has managed to carve himself a niche in the Brooklyn neighborhood he resides. Far from junk, this artisticexpression relies on his eyes and hands to mold these pieces of discarded scrap metals, doodads, and whatzits into a nostalgic amalgamation.
The pieces walk the fine line between busy/and well positioned, evoking mental images of a flower where the eye might see a faucet, or reminding us that the smooth round features of a door handle can be as aesthetically pleasing as it is practical.
