Literary Monday

Sooo, a book in hand is better than 10 in the bush....okay that makes no sense, but I still love Confessiorns of an Economic Hitman. If you've ever felt (or do feel for that matter) that there is some serious bullshit going on in the world between Multi-National Corporations and foreign governments then this book is a current events goldmine.

Through John Perkins' autobiography (of sorts) we are led (very innocently) into the process of how we put these developing countries into our pockets and call on them whenever we need favors. Often these favors come in the form of oil, or natural resources, or hey! even building a canal right through their country and then usurping their sovereignty in the name of Manifest Destiny (see Monroe Doctrine)

In short this book is a must read for anyone whose conscience is telling them that our corporations have been tinkering with the world in all the wrong ways, and for way too long.

I'm not done with it yet, but I was compelled to throw a few thoughts up in the name of all the blind eyes we turn, mine being the biggest offender.
